    Student Innovation Grants Round II - Call for Proposals Published: Friday, 29 May 2015

    GCFSI announces call for proposals for Student Innovation Grants Round II. GCFSI will award up to 15 grants of $10,000 each to student research and class groups, including design challenges in senior-level capstone design classes, for up to 12 month projects, that test, pilot or scale innovations related to food systems.

    MSU Graduates Eight MasterCard Foundation Scholars Published: Thursday, 28 May 2015

    This year, Michigan State University celebrated the graduation of eight MasterCard Foundation Scholars—the second cohort from MSU’s partnership with The MasterCard Foundation. The Scholars, all of whom received their master’s degrees, represent Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Equipped with their Spartan education and a passion for giving back, these new leaders are poised to make meaningful change in Africa.

    Fiji climate research is MSU’s first student-led study abroad program Published: Tuesday, 26 May 2015

    Fourteen MSU undergraduate students are in Fiji right now studying the impacts of climate change. Fiji is about 1,100 miles northeast of New Zealand. This course is led by two MSU graduate research assistants, Alex Killion and Tracy Swem. Both are with the MSU fisheries and wildlife program. This is MSU’s first ever student-led study abroad program.

    Office for International Students and Scholars Welcomes New Director Published: Friday, 20 Mar 2015

    International Studies and Programs at Michigan State University has named James Dorsett as the new director of the Office for International Students and Scholars, effective March 16. In this role, Dorsett will provide leadership for one of the nation’s largest and most prominent offices serving international students, scholars and their families.

    MSU one of top schools in Peace Corps rankings Published: Tuesday, 17 Feb 2015

    With 32 graduates currently serving as Peace Corps volunteers, Michigan State University ranks No. 23 in this year’s Peace Corps’ list of top volunteer-producing large universities across the country.

    MSU has earned a top spot on the list for the past 14 years. Since the agency was created in 1961, 2,338 MSU alumni have served overseas, making MSU the No. 6 all-time producer of Peace Corps volunteers.

    MSU Awarded $7 Million to Support International Education Published: Monday, 13 Oct 2014

    Five area study centers at Michigan State University have been awarded federal grants totaling more than $7 million to advance international education.

    The competitive grants are funded by the U.S. Department of Education under Title VI of the Higher Education Act, and are awarded throughout a four-year cycle from 2014 to 2018.
