    Youth Essay Contest Winners: Working Together to Create the Africa We Want Published: Thursday, 20 Jul 2017

    Three African youth have been selected as the winners of an essay contest co-hosted by MSU's Alliance for African Partnership and Youth Empowerment Programs. The essay contest, titled "Working Together to Create the Africa We Want," invited African citizens between the ages of 15-24, to describe their desired future for Africa and the role of youth in that future.

    Every year, MasterCard Foundation Scholars elect a new Scholars Council Representative. After a nomination and campaign process, a Scholar is chosen to hold this position for a one-year term. The newly elected Representative is Jackie Umurerwa, an undergraduate nursing student expecting to graduate in December 2019.

    Scholar Wins "Give Back" Competition, Awarded for Medical Humanitarian Work Published: Thursday, 13 Apr 2017

    The Honors College at Michigan State University hosted a Give Back Competition and Colloquium on March 28, 2017. The competition invited students to submit a video blog outlining the service work they organized in their communities. After deliberation by MSU faculty, MasterCard Foundation Scholar Gobi Bah was chosen as first-place winner for his work with RESTORE Worldwide.

    A five-year, $13 million collaboration between Michigan State University and The MasterCard Foundation will help 15,000 young people access employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the fast-growing horticulture, aquaculture, poultry, cassava and oilseed sectors in Tanzania and Nigeria.

    During the spring break, The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program took a trip to New York City with second year graduate students. Scholars gained exposure to the city and culture and received practical leadership training. They visited various historical sites and popular political and cultural landmarks like the American Museum of Natural History, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, and the Acting to Succeed Academy.

    Alliance for African Partnership Announces Winners of Grant Competition Published: Friday, 17 Mar 2017

    Fifteen proposals have been chosen as the recipients of the Alliance for African Partnership's first-ever grant competition. The proposals were selected from more than 60 responses to the AAP's inaugural call for proposals.

    The grants were awarded to proposals that exemplified the AAP mission of effecting positive change in Africa through meaningful, equitable partnerships.
