Proposed Activites

  • Create powerful intercultural events with the screening of The Dialogue that will initiate dialogues between students of different cultural backgrounds at hundreds of institutions across the U.S. and China.
  • Facilitate student discussions and dialogues immediately following each screening by providing faculty at these institutions with an intercultural toolkit to prepare students for the intercultural events and for follow-up training afterwards.
  • Offer a training opportunity for faculty from across the U.S. to explore tools and techniques of collaborative problem-solving that can be used to address the intercultural tensions that exist on campuses and in the broader U.S. society.
  • Broadcast two dialogues between students in the U.S. and China on an intercultural television program.
  • Present interdisciplinary student workshops that teach ways of using social media to participate actively in a dialogue that spans cultures and religions to reach broad audiences.
  • Document the current attitudes of American and Chinese youth through a survey of thousands of students, to highlight the necessity for activities that foster intercultural understanding.
